Engineering
Specify the system around a trading idea: data timing, validation, risk limits and the rules for permission, written as a dossier a reviewer can check.
Planned Enrolment is closed.
The Quant Capital Engineering program is planned as self-paced study over four to six weeks, with one written rubric review and one resubmission.
$499USD, one-time
What you produce
A coherent architecture dossier of roughly 12 to 20 pages, with a requirements traceability table and eight component specifications.
The learning result is an internally consistent design with its unresolved assumptions stated openly. A dossier that recommends abandoning the strategy can pass.
- Format
- Self-paced over four to six weeks, with one written review
- Estimated learner time
- 24 to 36 learner hours
- Prerequisites
- Foundations knowledge or an equivalent diagnostic.
- You produce
- A testable architecture: a 12 to 20 page dossier with eight component specifications
- Opens when
- Templates and worked examples are complete, the review rubric is calibrated and a named reviewer has capacity.
Eight specifications
Each module produces one part of the dossier and states the evidence a reviewer will look for.
| Module | Student artifact | Acceptance evidence |
|---|---|---|
| E01Constitution and scope | Purpose, exclusions, failure response | Objectives and stop conditions are testable. |
| E02Data and market state | Schema, timestamps, units, availability | Every field is available at the decision time. |
| E03Strategy and regimes | Hypothesis, baseline, regime rule | No retrospective labelling or unstated future information. |
| E04Evidence and estimation | Estimator, dependence, costs, uncertainty | Assumptions and alternative explanations are explicit. |
| E05Validation plan | Splits, experiments, stress cases | Holdout untouched by selection; trial count recorded. |
| E06Risk and sizing | Exposure budget and limits | Uncertainty and losses can veto new exposure. |
| E07Permission and execution | Permit schema and state transitions | Expiry, replay and stale-state behaviour defined. |
| E08Operations and review | Monitoring, reconciliation, traceability | Each requirement has a test or an open evidence item. |
How the dossier is reviewed
One named reviewer scores the dossier against a published rubric. A pass needs 80 of 100 points and no critical failure. Reviewers calibrate against a passing, a borderline and a failing reference dossier before paid enrolment.
Critical failures: future-data leakage, omitted costs, guaranteed returns, undefined exposure limits, or an exit path blocked by the entry gate.
| Criterion | Points |
|---|---|
| Scope | 10 |
| Data and timing | 15 |
| Evidence and uncertainty | 20 |
| Validation | 20 |
| Risk and lifecycle | 20 |
| Traceability | 15 |
| Total | 100 |
